First World Cup podium with a disc braked CX

World cup in Rome today. Many complains on Twitter/Facebook aboth the organisation but what a result. Kevin Pauwels took the win like many thought on a fast dry course like that. But the man, the most impressive rider of the day is Marco Aurelio Fontana. Not such a good starting but as we know from XC he knows what full gas means and he showed it. Chasing harder then everybody else got him up to the front before have problems jumping the barriers.

But with a sticker on his jersey saying: ”Ride for Burry” you can’t just give up and he didn’t. So after 1h with Kevin Pauwels and Klaas Vantornout in the lead Vantornout got a problem with his bike and had to stop. Niels Albert flew past him and then came Fontana too. So watch this finish:

1. Kevin Pauwels – Sunweb-Napoleon Games

2. Niels Albert – BKCP-PowerPlus

3. Marco Aurelio Fontana – Cannondale Factory Racing

Third place with his new Cannondale SuperX disc with Sram Red, Avid BB7 SL, Enve wheels, FSA parts, Prologo seat, Shimano XTRpedals and A. Dugast tires. Best that happened to Cyclocross racing this season after Zdenek Stybars being back for a short while. 😀
