That bike will never be forgotten. I bought it 2006 as a frameset, sold it and bought it again in 2009, sold it and bought it again in 2012. and sold it 😦
That was my first mtb which I started my racing ”career”, it was my first Cannondale.
And it’s so well made in so many good ways. Really liked that Fatty fork. Really liked to be able to ride a 2×9 and 10 drivetrain with a Shimano Dura-Ace front derailleur. Really liked the light and clean wiring. Really liked to be able to use a road crankset on a mtb for it as a winterbike. Really liked to get it work with 28″ Mavic Reflex rims and Challenge Grifo 32mm tubulars.
Thanks to that bike I learnt a lot about biking but also as a mechanic because it had many different parts. Weight weenie style like on the picture with Tune King hub, New Ultimate handlear, Extralite barends, Aerozine QR, KCNC seatpost, Dura-Ace 7800 front derailleur, Tuned Sram Rival rear derailleur.
Found a couple of old pictures from 2007 and 2008. 2007 in Landskrona racing for Åstorps CK:
And from Borås CA’s mtb race in 2008:
And in the first climb of Mörksuggejakten 2008:
Just for fun I will add a picture from Ymerracet 2009 too. Look at the bike 😉
It’s a bit funny too. At the race in Borås in 2008 I bought the Drylane Bib’s seen at Mörksuggejakten 2008 from Allebike from which I have a bottle from on the first two pictures in 2007 ;). As it was wet and muddy at Ymerracet 2009 (was on a saturday) and I didn’t had any mudtires I ordered a pair on Facebook late friday evening from Allebike too. Great store that really are into racing 😀
Riding with Fløyen MTB today, or started with them and headed up Totland. Kristian showed some new small singletracks on the way to the climb. In the climb me and Kristian was riding first at an okey speed, not so high or slow. But up at Fanahytten we couldn’t see anyone. Waited a little, turned back down the last part and checked but didn’t see any so we continued alone. Fana IL training instead 😉 Tried a singletrack climb first but very muddy and wet everywhere so held us to the gravel roads mostly. Rode over the hill, over another hill on the other side of Bontveitroad and then put in a speed record for the day. 64km/h downhill on a gravel road, with 36t chainring and 26/27,5″ wheels. Rode back up to Fanahytten and down on the other side headed towards home again. Rode a small climb and down kubakken (cowhill) that I’ve never ridden the hole before as I usual turns left in the middle riding Rett Vest that way. And then back home again with some small singletracks Kristian knew on the way. Had a Race King 2,2″ tire on the rear today and in the wet grass it was extremely slippy, recommend Racing Ralph over it if you want any grip. Left Kristian at Landås and rode home following Fjellveien. Wrong way today with a lot of people walking all over the road and no thoughts of cyclists. Stopped in the beginning to take a picture of my bike of the day:
My old Cannondale F1000SL sold to John and changed a lot. 26″ rear wheel and 27,5″ front wheel, 36t single chainring with XTR rear derailleur and shifter. Avid Elixir brakes. Truvativ Noir T30 700mm wide handlebar and Shimano pedals. Last time I used Shimano SPD pedals was many years ago and think it will be many years until next time too, hard to get in and didn’t feel good in any way. But worked for a day. My thoughts of the bike was that I was missing my Scalpel, Lefty and 27,5″ on both wheels 😉
Map and stats from today, with proper altitude data 🙂 Movescount
A couple of minus, snow and a lot of wet salt roads. Cycling and talking about races, travels, bikes and food. then you know the winter is here. 4h 14min riding today, with 4 others, a calm 140 in average heart rate but with a max at 186 when I tried to attack on Roger up a hill.
Low average heart rate because it mostly looked like this:
Roger and Linea in the front and I’m behind someone testing my Mavic Infinity jacket in the winter. Linea with ”new” clothes representing here new team. With us was Tom, a new guy for me and the photographer and the guy arranging all this nice rides. Here you can see Petter in his new club clothes, going up to the second best looking clothes in Norway:
Back home I took a photo of my snowy but very good working winterhorse:
Today is the real world champion day, women elite at 11 and men elite at 15. Look at it here: Sports-livez
I will miss the women’s race as I’m going out cycling but hopefully I can see all mens race. Changed handlebar for a 60cm flat New Ultimate yesterday and mounted a pair of nice Extralite Cyberends and some comfy bar tape 🙂
