Cannondale Scalpel Si 2017

It was rumors about a new Scalpel this year as the last one lacks some things. And now at Cape Epic it’s being raced on for the first time:

Space for 2 bottles:

Not the best picture but lowered in front to work with new Leftys:

A redesigned rear triangle with a new shocklink and a more tucked in rear damper. Also got internal routing

Curious on the official news and geometry. Will it be as good as the upgrade from Flash to F-Si?

Absa Cape Epic last stage, with emotions

An emotional day at Cape Epic yesterday when Annika Langvad had birthday and it was the last race of Christoph Sausers impressive career:

I’ve heard some rumors about what Sauser will do now and if they are correct he won’t disappear from the cycling scene 😀 Let’s hope they are correct and he will be in to lift the sport even more.

Absa Cape Epic stage 6 and newest kit

Sauser back in a Evade helmet (why changing between Prevail and Evade?) and Kulhavy seems to have no problems just push on 😉 If you want to be as cool as Sauser and Kulhavy and help the people in South Africa, then you should buy a bike from them. Their special Cape Epic bikes will be auctioned out on Songo.info after the race. Seemed like a good day today for Specialized Racing:

and I used my new Oakleys on my way to and from work today. New Oakley Radarlock that I won earlier, works pretty good riding asphalt without prescription 😉

Now time to prepare for tomorrow. First race coming up 😀 😀

Trenduro for breakfast

No Peloton today, change in my schedule and a bit more sleep 😉 Met up with Patrik outside Specialized Concept Store at 7.15 an hour of cool mtb instead. And what a ride, a bit slow body but fast friend and super trails. Almost dry trails and Patrik found a lap that took around 1h so perfect on a sunny morning. Not so cold either.

Small trails, small turns, small roots and big stones. Technical but pretty flowy if you find the right way (many tracks all over). Got me thinking of the trails I rode with Leif Arne in Kristiansand last september. Great training. Great weather today but no good pictures from me, just an instapicture from Patrik to share:

Map and stats: Movescount

And have to share this, Christoph Sauser’s Specialized Epic ready for Absa Cape Epic that starts on sunday, so cool:

Lovechock Specialized Team for Cape Epic, and Leftydream

Sanne van Paassen and Jolien Janssen is racing Cape epic for Lovechock Specialized Team on Specialized Era. Here’s from their latest training camp:

I also found a nice video from Racing Shox (who I’m getting my new Marzocchi fork from) riding a Cannondale Flash showing nice trails in Spain with a Lefty fork 🙂

RIP Burry Stander

Working with Cannondale and it was discussions about baggy shorts, Sagan and the brothers Fontana and Fumic.

Working with Trek it was Jens Voigt and Slash.

Working with Specialized reminds me of two guys being both cool and serious and super fast before the Cannondale brothers. Oldest it’s Christoph Sauser that remembered the times at Cannondale using a road derailleur and pushing the weightlimits lower than everybody else. And then the guy that put Africa on the XC map, that lowered the stem lower than everybody and is cool enough to could have been racing for Cannondale now, Burry Stander.

2009 Epic special for Christoph Sauser a couple of days before the 2008 worlds (?) with a mount for a braze-on road derailleur like the Sram Red he used, saved like 50g.

On the other side Burry Stander who was killed by a taxi (?) driver 3rd January 2013. After starting working with Specialized I’m getting reminded of him and feel sorry for the hole XC sport and Cherise Stander.

We should all ride for Burry Stander on our mountainbikes the 3rd January. For him and all others killed by cardrivers while cycling.
