CX Superprestige Spa Francorchamps

Think it’s my favourite racing course, Spa Francorchamps got all you need for racing with cars.

It also got an awesome cyclocross race where it seems like Sanne van Paassen found her speed again 🙂 Will share their replay as soon as I find it, until then we can watch the men’s race:

Which is your favourite course?

While waiting for better times (tomorrow) I can recommend to watch the replays from the CX racing in Belgium yesterday. No ice 😉

Tomorrow I hopefully will show you some great pictures from the Spotify Morning Ride I will do 😀 Will be extra awesome as I got my new pair of wintertights from Café du Cycliste today 🙂

Equal pricemoney at Koppenbergcross!!!

Women and men CX riders train as much to perform on their absolute top level. But there is a big difference in support by sponsors and pricemoney at races. And it seems hard to change. One who is doing as much as she can is Helen Wyman who raced a lot in USA where Twenty22Cycling stepped in last season to sponsor with money so women got the same amout of pricemoney as the men. Shouldn’t Europe be better?

Now Wyman got help from Twenty22Cycling in US to get equal pricemoney at Koppenbergcross on saturday. An american bikestore with help from Specialized in Belgium/The Netherlands step in to sponsor an european race at the CX center of the world? Can’t european race organizers be better then that? A video about it:

CX World Cup Valkenburg, the replays

If you like me missed see the racing live yesterday you can watch the replay. See how Sanne van Paassen passing a lot of people and great english battles:

And the men’s race, haven’t seen it all yet myself:

CX: The love and hate

I love racing, love to push the limits with others and try to go fast. Love watching people go really fast and push further. Love racing bikes no matter if it’s for XC, CX, Road, Enduro or DH. The small tweaks, perfectly set up to be ridden to the limit expecting everything to work and knowing that it will work for the cause. Racing like in this teaser:

The thing I have a problem with is the biggest part, the part of being good and do hard training. Like trying to get up this climb over and over again looking strange:

Rode up to the top, straight up twice. The third time it was too slippery so the 8 times afterwards I just rode straight almost up. Really hard and it tasted blood halfways through it. That’s why I only rode 10 times full speed. And then 2 sprints. Home after 29min. That’s a hard effort for me but not such good training when it’s so short.

Can see the small climb here: Movescount

Think I will try once more on thursday, but in an easier climb that I can manage, maybe a bit longer too. Trying to find some speed until the race in Skien on saturday and get some hard training for my back.

Meeusen is the king of Nommay!

One of the best CXraces I’ve seen today. Last World Cup in Nommay and the action was just magic. Philip Walsleben, Francis Mourey and Tom Meeusen.  Meeusen seemed to have been ridden to hard and faded in the middle but came back to the french-german war ;). Last lap was attacking and riding tighter than shoulders against shoulders made it so interesting. Thought Walsleben should win as he seemed fastest but Mourey had best crowd at his home race and attacked in the end.

But Meeusen showed how to sprint and won the sprint against Mourey. If you didn’t saw this you got to see the replay later on Youtube.com/ucichannel

And podium. 1 Tom Meeusen, 2 Francis Mourey and 3 Philip Walsleben:

Lars van der Haar ended 4th and won the complete World Cup 2013/2014, well done by the young gun.

In the womens race Marianne Vos showed that she knows how she works and take advantage of it. She won while Katie Compton had to step off when she got a astma attack. 2nd Helen Wyman and 3rd to Eva Lechner.

All up to a very interesting World Championship next weekend in Hoogerheide.
