2017 Cannondale Scalpel Si

Now it’s out.

100g lighter

9mm shorter chainstays

4 different heights on the front like F-Si

Asymmetric Integration that moves the drivetrain out 6mm with changing the center of the hub. stiffer but without having to use Boost. So 12×142 like it should be.

83mm BB30 (no Q-factor change with Hollowgram)

27,5″ in XS, S and M

29″ in M, L and XL

69,5° head angle

Modern geo, 1,5° slacker head angle than on a Specialized Epic World Cup which seems a lot but Cannondale like their slack angles.

An interesting thing is that if you use Di2 you have the battery inside the toptube attached to the rear damper. All possibilities to use a dropper post.

More info about it here: Bikerumor

My first thoughts about it is that it’s a great upgrade and it was really time for it. But compared to Specialized it doesn’t seem as tight and racy as an Epic but I may have wrong. Would be nice to try it and compare.

news: Cannondale Scalpel 2017

Tomorrow is the day Cannondale’s: Built for XXC will be released. Everyone knows already that is it about the new Cannondale Scalpel Si. Cannondale has some to catch up on FS XC racebikes and will they manage it? Will they use Ai6 for 12x142mm? What’s in front of the rear damper inside the frame? How low stack will it have? Is it fast? Light?

Black Inc, nothing for me or my style but have to be available for those who want’s the latest tech and fallen for the Enve hype.

Berserker Green for teamriders like Manuel Fumic and wannabes like all of us 😉

And the bike for all Cannondale lovers. The quality of XX1, the stiffness and pure beauty of Hollowgram with an OPI ring. It got it all except a flashy seatpost. Probably for a price not even Canyon can compete with.

My expectations are high, will it be even close to as tight and racy as a Specialized Epic WC? How short will the chainstays be? More info tomorrow after I’ve tried the fastest gravelmtb in Stockholm (more on that too).

new parts for my Scalpel, Avid Elixir 5

Wanted a cheap pair of brakes working with Matchmaker X to have the same mount for my Xloc and my X.0 Triggers. So got a pair of Avid Elixir 5, really nothing special but got a descent weight too including rotor, all bolts, adapter (for both and rear), matchmaker including the shifter mount on right side:

But a bit too long housings:

So today I cut it and saved 10g on rear brake and 4g on front brake. So total weight for the brakes is 652g

White brake hosing

Today I took my Flash to work, a bit different riding a 2kg lighter bike with lefty 😉 But nice feeling. Have had a package of white hosing for my front brake laying at work for some time and thought I should mount it before I forget. And as the weight weenie I am I shortened the hosing a little too, but haven’t checked the weight difference. Result look like this:

Only missing with for the Xloc, anyone know if I can get it somewhere?

No Flash
