Le Peloton #177

Today I wasn’t first to Urban Deli. Petter came first, then me and then Martin.

When the clock showed 5.59 Peter came so 4 today. Rode together in the beginning with Peter being the strongest on studs, I took a turn on Järnvägspizza (the hole one), no one passed. Until we turned into the ”climb” and Petter attacked with Peter on his wheel, and they rode away from us without studs… Martin was strong up the climb but then he mostly hang on to my wheel. Took the shortcut in Älta and a PR. Martin took a turn on Flatenvägen and then it was just to keep it as fast as possible until the finishline. Thought I would blow up a couple of times today but kept it together and even with being dropped it was a great morning effort 🙂

Breakfast alone at Magnus Johanssons bakery:

Until Peter came who had been waiting a bit after the finish if we where behind. So ended up being just 2 at the breakfast

Good food and really close to work afterwards. And my body felt a bit tired until lunch, just like it should be after a Le Peloton 🙂 And heavy legs on the way home 😉

Exploring with Sumo

Was supposed to come a bit of rain during the day today so when Emil talked about a ride in the morning it seemed like a good idea. When he suggested gravel and I could borrow the Diverge I was all in 🙂

Me, Michael, Claes and Emil rode laps today, laps everywhere, some new roads, some old. Mostly in the opposite direction. Should have been easy but Sumo and easy doesn’t go hand in hand. But great tempo today with a lot of fun 😀

Passing the ”ocean”, riding around lakes, taking pictures at ”ocean”:

We finally found the place everyone talks about, Fisksätra:

And of course we rode beautiful gravelroads, enjoying life, in sun and trying to keep up with Michael:

At the end we got a bit more quiet, the tempo went down a bit and we rode up a ”mountain” just because:

Yes, it’s a lake that we rode around in the background…

And yes, we bragged about all this while having ice cream and more or less endless of fika:

All in all Diverge+Sumo=Win

Älgö Deluxe

Don’t know what it is but it seems like my body like Älgö in a way. Seems to have easier to hang on compared to a Le Peloton. Until Mathias attacked today with Michael and Anders rode up to them. Ended up in a chasing group just behind, A great group with great speed, lost a lot at a redlight but except that I think we had some flow 🙂

Looked like this, filmed by Jesper:

Got together afterwards and had breakfast in the sun 🙂

A great morning with a ride like this: Strava

Le Peloton #104

It all started yesterday after work when Stefan took a look at my fit on my bike. Ended with a new seatpost with 1cm less setback and some millimeter changes in height. Had been thinking of if I was sitting right and nice to have it checked out by a guy with great routine 🙂

So today was a bit of a test, both in position and how my legs felt after my terrible ride yesterday. Was much better 🙂 The not so good thing that maybe made my day a bit easier was that I forgot my phone so late upload to Strava and no pictures by me. Magnus took a couple at the start:

A lot of people even in vacation time. But what a mess, as unsmooth as it can be today and it was really hard for me that wasn’t on top. My last part along Flaten where I tried to pass the hole group as everyone was riding in 1 line instead of 2 like we should I burned my power and when I went in to the right lane I got dropped for real. Tried to keep the pace as high as I could the last part and managed to just loose 40seconds. People sometimes seems to afraid of being dropped when the hole point is to ride together as hard as possible. And as it says on the Peloton kit, Being dropped is not a defeat, it’s an honor.

After we anyway had a great time eating breakfast and filling Magnus Johanssons bakery:

Back to basics today. A bit strange to say but we were not so many today and was very few keeping the pace up in the first group. Kudos to them. A smaller group with strong riders make suffering bigger and rest smaller. I did as many turns as I could but suffered a lot and throw up a little in my mouth in Älta… Managed to hang on and take some more turns, fun going fast as I usually says.

Ended 6th in the sprint behind the strong Nils Penton which I didn’t wanted to pass. and 2nd best time so far, I didn’t believe that as it felt like the peloton slowed down a lot both in Fisksätra and Älta. But we also missed the redlights which can make a big difference.

Breakfast at the summer place, Magnus Johanssons bakery in Hammarby Sjöstad so closer:

See you next Wednesday 🙂

Älgö Deluxe Monday edition

Sometimes you do other things than riding a bike in the weekend. I’m happy to have friends to hang out with even without bikes 🙂

So without riding yesterday it was perfect when Anders announced an Älgö Deluxe ride a monday 🙂

Some new guys and some old today and it all started that we where 3 who got in front of a bus and had to wait for the others. Lost the Strava segment…

Then we rode hard, I hung on the hole loop and felt good. 🙂 Had a great time in the sun with my SUMObrothers, friends and others. Me, Emil and Anders attacked in a climb on the way back, SUMOstyle ftw. The SUMOjersey makes you want to go hard, Café du Cycliste bibs made it comfortable, Gelatosocks made it fun and my S-Works is just a dream. Great combo that we all topped with fika:

Anders took some GoPro pictures too 🙂

Älgö the double

This past weekend I talked with Isabelle about training and about the difference in our lives. We both love cycling but she always ride with a purpose. I don’t, I just ride because I like it. She is faster than me but that’s not what matters for me now.

I love racing, love to be a part of a cycling club that work for racing even though I’m not so active, love to watch and follow races and see people develop.

This week I had a plan with my riding as I’m riding 300km Vätternrundan on Saturday which is the biggest cycling thing in Sweden with over 20000 starters and many Sub groups all from 15h down to under 7h. It’s not a race but the biggest goal in many cyclists life.

My plan was to ride Älgö Deluxe this morning, Le Peloton tomorrow and then rest except just transporting myself to work and home. So started this day with Älgö Deluxe:

Found a great picture of the different clubs. Stockholm CK, CK Valhall, Fredrikshof and SUMO riders all together:

VIRB0218

Felt easy on the way there and felt good sitting on wheel. But when I went in front my heart rate went to the sky without any legpower. Got dropped just before Älgö together with Jürg and we rode the rest together. Seems like the other ones went fast with KOM’s and such things. I had an average of 35km/h so maybe I did have some legpower. Stats: Strava

So after work my plan was just to go home. Then it changed to go to Storkällan GP with Magnus and Simon. Rode there and then I got a tempting message and changed my mind. Instead of watch the race there alone I went for an easy spin to Älgö with the most beautiful riders of Rocket Racing Team:

Ended with ice cream on Södermalm and a late arrival at home with 69km instead of 10 😉
