World Cup XCO Nove Mesto Na Morave

Really exciting World Cup racing yesterday. Seems like you never know who will win the womens race and was true yesterday. Pauline Ferrand Prevot showed everyone how to ride, LIV Pro XC Team is good to dominate a race. When will Maja Wloszczowska win?

And the resultlist:

In the mens race it was more like usual. Nino Schurter showed skills but instead of racing his hardtail Scale 700 he now used his full Suspension Spark 700 instead. First win with a full suspension bike and first time a full suspension 27,5″ bike win’s a world cup?

1. Nino Schurter – Scott Racing

2. Stéphane Tempier – BH-Suntour

3. Moritz Milatz – BMC Racing

4. Daniel McConnell – Trek Factory

5. Julien Absalon – BMC Racing

WC XCO Pietermaritzburg, France vs Switzerland

Normally Julie Bresset wins the womens race for France and Nino Schurter wins the mens race for Switzerland but not this year.

Jolanda Neff went fast in the start as usual but this year she changed. Instead of slowing down and dropping places she learnt of Schurter and just stayed in first position the hole race 😉 Funniest result of the women today must have been Annika Langvad showing that she are back on the top again 😀

1. Jolanda Neff – LIV Pro Team

2. Gunn Rita Dahle Flesjå – Merida Multivan Biking Team

3. Maja Wloszczowska – LIV Pro Team

4. Annika Langvad – ?

5. Alexandra Engen – Ghost Factory Racing Team

In the mens race Schurter tried to be normal and putting a high pace from the start so Absalon that isn’t as fast starter getting problems. Today Fumic joined and after some time Absalon joined them too. Fumic dropped some seconds so all French-Swiss fight again.

In the fifth lap Schurter put some pressure on Absalon as usual on a downhill but flatted. Absalon did as he done before and passed as fast as he could and rode fast and secure to win. Schurter showed how good a tubular tire is and riding pretty good the 3km to the tech zone, lost some time and effort so ended 6th.

1. Julien Absalon – BMC Racing Team

2. Manuel Fumic – Cannondale Factory Racing

3. Maxime Marotte – BH-Suntour

4. Ondrej Cink – Merida Multivan Biking Team

5. Jose Antonio Hermida Ramos – Merida Multivan Biking Team

So Switzerland won the womens race and France won the mens race 🙂 Love to see Absalon win

my training went to South Africa

Tried to ride XC with the Remedy today. Wasn’t as fun as the riding on wednesday. Go hard or go home they say so this evening was a hard fight. Some nice trails, a lot of water, a couple of nice guys and great weather.

Stats here: Movescount

So let us forget that and move on to this big weekend. First XCO World Cup in Pietermaritzburg in South Africa and LIV Pro Team is ready:

Without Marianne Vos who is in Sea Otter winning. Won the Short Track race today.

And then we got the cool men’s team, Cannondale Factory Racing:

Will any team ride with the XTR 9000 that was released today you think? Not so impressed so just giving a link to info about it: Bikeradar

But cool front derailleur.

World Cup Nove Mesto

What an awesome racing day. Not the worst to be home laying in the sofa with a cold when it’s such action live on the computer. Alexandra Engen is moving up again. Ranked 2nd in the world and took the lead early in the race, falling back a bit but ended 4th which is a spot better than last week 🙂 Top three here:

Well worth seeing if you missed it. Replay here: Red Bull

And then the mens race. Emil Lindgren got a good start and was in front of Nino Schurter for a while before dropping back. The big favourite Jaroslav Kulhavy riding Burry Stander style with slammed stem (-24°) without top cap went down hard on the Rock’n’Roll section and ended far back. Nino Schurter pushed hard all race with Julien Absalon on his wheel. Like racing should be with the favourites showing how things should be done. Schurter did like last year and attacked in the last climb and took the win again:

A small thing from todays race is that Jose Antonio Hermida Ramos rode Sram XX1 with a chainguide.
