Mavic Zxellium Ultimate vs Specialized S-Works Road

New season, new shoes? Not really as I used my Mavic shoes 2 seasons 😉

600g including my Time cleats. Really light shoe with maybe the markets best ventilation. When getting a pair of Specialized S-Works shoes I thought they would be heavier, but the scale tells the truth:

Including Time cleats too. And other soles to stabilize my feets better. Always nice with an upgrade that saves weight 🙂 size 41 1/3 on the Mavic shoes and 42,5 on the Specializedshoes. Fits my feets both so a bit different in sizing. Using 42 in Sidi for comparsion.

If you want to buy my Mavic shoes that are in really good condition as you can see. Write a comment or send me an e-mail to

Manque de France

But I’m back riding a bike again. Was hard today and my legs wasn’t so used to pedal as I remembered it last time. Not so warm either.

Started with a plan of 1h easy spin in good weather. The easy spin part I don’t know about but felt slow at least, rode along the coast to Åsgårdstrand and up the climb I really dislike and to Barkåker and Sem before I got home after 74min. Manage to take some picture too. Missing France as the blogpost name means so used french shoes, pedals and bibs today 😉

And a jersey with french text on 😉

and thought of geometry and fit today. If someone buys my awesome Trek Madone 6.2 I will get THE classic bike 🙂

Vestfold Sightseeing

Left home 10.15 today with the goal to ride far and get very tired just wheelsucking. 5h with 3 elite riders sounds hard.

Got some Nature Power Nutrition from Multipower at Veloshop (so easy to eat no matter temperature). And then headed towards the meeting place. Bugge was very late so started with a long talk with my Joker boss. Left half an hour later than planned and aimed for Hvasser, a nice harbour out on an island. Rode some new roads for me that I will remember instead of just riding straight like I did to the worlds end last tuesday. Really warm with over 30° C.

Stopped in Hvasser after I had ridden 1h39min and got something to drink from the local Joker store and enjoyed the sun. Then the discussion started about boats that never ended, we should have a boat.

Rode back to the mainland and stopped at Bryggan in Tønsberg to come up with where to ride. Rode to Ringshaug (bathing place). Met Bugge’s brother and the Norwegian U23 National Champion for a chat before we decided to take a bath. Warm and super idea, dried fast in the sun:

After a while there we rode home again. Martin left at my place for Stokke. Niklas a bit earlier to Nøtterøy together with Bugge who rode a bit extra before going to Horten. Slacker ride with more thoughts on why we didn’t have a boat instead of cycling. 😉

The ride of today that made me tired and ready for a 9 day rest (working with Team Joker in France): Movescount

Sunday ride with smiles

When you wake up and hear the rain  and thinking of your new silk tires it’s not the best start. But when out on some dry roads with a couple of friends making jokes and in love with Campagnolo you can’t complain. From Boa we where Roger, Jørgen, Jarle and me riding towards Os and around Gullfjellet. In Os Jarle had to turn around to go to work so left where three riders all with Campagnolo. Roger with a new Canyon with Record EPS, Jørgen with Parlee with Record and me with a SuperSIX Evo with Super Record. Roger had some problems with his EPS that is soon to be solved and me and Jørgen complained on his electric bike with a smile. Wasn’t smiling when Roger put the pressure on us and showed that the engine worked, attacked up Gullfjellet and me and Jørgen was left in the grupetto.

Steady pace with 168-170 in heart rate up it felt pretty good with Jørgen on my wheel. 34-21/23 in gears so liked my compact crank. Then it flattens out before it goes up a small climb to the top. Was on 50-19 or something before the last part and instead of gearing down I tried my legs. 50-23 and standing and flying up. Mavic Cosmic Carbone Ultimate is a sick wheelset that sat a new standard for me in stiffness. Jørgen lost my wheel and for the first time this year I was feeling that my muscles was working again 😀

Down on the other side to the stop eating a bun and drinking coke. Here is Roger at the stop with his new bike:

And a look at the view and weather the other way:

Going down to the fjord it was a bit colder and started to rain a bit again a little later. Was very wet in the end and when Roger sat the pace up in Eidsvåg I was hurting a lot, but survived all the way home with good memories. Sunshine rider in the wet today and now I know the thing you should know to reading this blog:

You can buy you fast!

People talking about that it’s all in your legs but not all true. With a light bike the climbs goes easier, with Campagnolo you got more love, with a stiff light wheelset you’re going faster (placebo place a big role here), with clothes that just is there and you don’t think about you can care about the riding. And it’s much more fun riding with green Hudz that normal black ones 😀
