a long day, the transportation

Many years ago me and my dad rode from home in Rydal to my grandparents in Näsinge. 280km and we split it up in two days. On mtbs with rack and bags. It was far riding.

A couple of years ago I planned to ride the opposite way but to my dad’s new home in Mullsjö but got a flat on my tubulars so went by car 😉 And maybe it was good as I didn’t looked up the route so good.

Yesterday I did the ride, 262km with a route planned in Strava which made it easy to find 🙂 Didn’t start so good as my gear didn’t work properly, something with the wire as it worked better and better and after 20km it was all good 🙂 Rode the old E6 down to Dingle and even the wind was against me it was nice seeing those old places which we used to pass driving to my grandparents. After Dingle I just pedalled on, understanding why randonneurs got Clip-on bars 😉 checked my clock and found out I missed a road. Rode back and onto a small rode I never would have found myself.

Coming down to Uddevalla and passing the city it was time for the days longest climb, 2,5km uphill and onto a small road:

And it continued like that the last 20km to Trollhättan:

Met Henrik in Trollhättan who rode there from Jönköping and had a nice lunch along the water:

And then we rode on small roads in the middle of nowhere to Mullsjö. Good tempo and very little traffic.

After Solberga we got some gravel and we thought of that we never ridden together in Sweden after I moved from Huskvarna without having some gravel 🙂 Sportgrus as it’s called is really fun on roadbike, makes you more alert 🙂

The last 20km or so we got rain, not warm rain as on RAAS but cold and there was no talk about making the route longer and change something, both just thought about home 😉

I found home and it was really nice to come in, having a shower and laying in the sofa after my second longest ride so far. Great to ride far without bringing a lot of stuff and bags 🙂

a long beautiful day

My legs didn’t feel so good this morning, neither did the heart rate but I almost never gave up as it was a long beautiful ride on the schedule. Rode down to Torpa Stenhus with Henrik and back up passing Ulricehamn for a wonderful lunch and many small good gravel roads 🙂 Gravelroads on a roadbike is hard but it’s so fun 🙂 Here the sound of carbon wheels with latex tubes on the gravel and enjoying the beautiful ups and downs and corners 🙂

First stop was a Torpa Stenhus for Mur de stenhus:

And instamoments:

Sock style, Rapha vs Ten Speed Hero, of course in Specialized S-Works shoes:

Then riding on some small lovely roads:

Was a bit extra tired when we came to Ulricehamn so no picture of our food, was to good to have it wait 😉 100SEK for a Italian lunch buffé with soda, dessert and coffee, super.

Back home it was more uphill, and uphill and uphill. Even being pretty light I didn’t like climbs today, no power or speed in my legs. Henrik got angry on some holes in the road so had to stop and hit something:

I was just happy for a little pause:

But nice gravelroads 🙂

Tried to get 200km so made 3 extra turns here in Mullsjö but it was to short and I gave up. Home with 198km and tired body.

the only thing that could have been better today was my legs. Weather was perfect, company was great, food where great and the roads is worth riding every one of them. My bike worked just like it should too 🙂

Thought about a thing in the shower, there are many good words in the world of cycling in different languages. Words that can’t be translated straight and keep the good meaning.

Trilletur is Norwegian and meaning an easy ride. That’s what my plan was today after getting my bike that got sent here. 2 restdays and a planned long ride tomorrow.

But its hard to ride easy alone, specially when the road is going up and down all the time and it started to rain. Rode south towards Bottnaryd and planned of riding the same way back as me and Henrik rode last time I was here visiting my dad. A small rode with nice landscape on the sides, in the middle of nowhere:

Up a long climb, or it’s just 2% but keeps on for 4,7km. Never ending. And riding the rode to Apelskift I waited for another climb that I usually think is hard. It never came.

It even after passing Habo church and this road:

And with a wet bike:

Was an okey ride and not cold in the wet. Great to start riding again but I look forward a week of good weather now 🙂 Need to get a better tan 😉

The Nationals has started!

I’ve been cycling today but more from that on Strava. And a big thanks to Tommy at Öster Cykel for the bike I’ve borrowed this weekend 🙂

Then the national time. Normally it’s just the National Championships on road now but Denmark and Germany already rode their XCO Nationals too. Annika Langvad got the champion jersey once again:

In Germany Helen Grobert won women elite:

And the coolest german won men elite, Manuel Fumic!

In Norway they started the road Nationals and today it was men U23. Team Joker with a strong team this year too got the first 3 places 🙂 Odd Christian Eiking won in front of Truls Engen Korsæth and Anders Skaarseth:

Would have loved to see that live 😀
