All mountain racebike

After having an all mountain bike for 2014:

and raced with it. I’m aiming for a better racebike 2015. Less travel, more XCO. like:

with some small tweaks.

But the big question at the moment:

Should I have 700 or 720mm wide handlebar?

While you thinking of that and writing the answer as a comment here you can watch the classy bike I built for CK Valhall elite team today:

GP Mario de Clercq, CX Ronse

First CX race this season for the world champ today, Omega Pharma – Quick-Step stylish kit:

And as he is the world champion Stybar can have his bike like he wants. Specialized doesn’t have any Crux CX bikes with cantilevers for 2015 but Stybar got some 😉

So world champ, light bike, Sram CX1, aerohelmet = win?

He caught Mathieu van der Poel on the first lap and lapped as #1 but then it became a bigger group. Then Sven Nys showed himself with an attack and then the race was over. Sven Nys was just better today and Stybar was dropping a bit.

1. Sven Nys – Crelan – AA Drink

2. Mathieu van der Poel – BKCP-Powerplus

3. Klaas Vantournout – Sunweb-Napoleon Games

4. Kevin Pauwels – Sunweb-Napoleon Games

5. Lars van der Haar – Giant Shimano Development Team

6. Tom Meeusen – Telenet Fidea

7. Wout van Aert – Vastgoedservice Golden Palace

8. Zdenek Stybar – Omega Pharma – Quickstep

The womens race was missing live stream 😦 but got some results:

1. Sophie de Boer – Kalas-NNOF

2. Helen Wyman – Kona FFSA Factory

3. Jolien Verschueren – Wielerteam Decock-Woningbouw Vandekerckhove

The win of: Binche-Chimay-Binche

Niki Terpstra did a great job making my day today. Talked to Zdenek Stybar and went full speed. Full speed so Stybar could go faster than everyone else and end the race like this:10644539_826531730732553_7144602263686258083_o

1. Zdenek Stybar – Omega Pharma – Quick-Step

2. John Degenkolb – Team Giant-Shimano

3. Jan Debusschere – Lotto Belisol

And Stybar learned from Tony Martin how to wear a cycling cap:

Awesome 😀 And a podium picture where you see some other teams need to get proper cap’s it’s not baseball.

Last kilometers:

Polish and Norwegian victories?

Today i was helping Reidar Borgersen and Truls Engen Korsæth in Duo Normand. Looked like this

And afterwards people wanted photos like this

A super ride by them and won with 49sec after the 54km pair time trial. Really funny

Meanwhile I heard from a nice commissary on a motorbike that Michel Kwiatkowski won the world championships! On a Specialized with a Evade helmet that I read a test with yesterday. Faster then Giro Air Attack and even faster then the time trial helmet Kask Bambino, that’s how he could win?

riding and cycling caps

Friday evening and no plans=bike riding. Rode with a friend in the sun this evening, great thing to ride a roadbike in good weather in the evening, almost as good as riding early in the morning. Only thing missing was a classic bike like the new one I’ve found. De Rosa Corum:

Steel, custom geo, Campagnolo. But is it classy enough to be compared with a Colnago C50?

Anyway, now Movescount is back on track and I can share a map and some stats to prove I’ve been riding today: Movescount

Cycling cap

Read a nice discussion a couple of minutes ago on cycling caps on the podium. Nowadays most riders use a baseball cap on the podium, wannabe baseball players? What do you think? OPQS with Tony Martin knows how it should be with a proper worn cycling cap:

Omega Pharma-Quick Step got the donkey

Belkin rode so hard in the wind so the peloton blew into pieces. Omega Pharma-Quick Step joined and they took over the race. Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne got so much better than I thought. Don’t like bunchsprints and all gathered at the end. Today with small groups and hard riding was much more fun to watch.

5 riders from Omega Pharma-Quickstep in top 9, 3 riders from Belkin. One from Topsport-Vlaanderen. Tom Boonen won the sprint and got the donkey on the picture here above.

1. Tom Boonen – Omega Pharma-Quick Step

2. Moreno Hofland – Belkin

3. Sep Vanmercke – Belkin

4. Yves Lampaert – Topsport-Vlaanderen

5. Stijn Vanderbergh – Omega Pharma-Quick Step

Zdenek Stybar is CX World Champion again!

Started from the 4th row with number 40 on his back. Was first after one lap and then he and Sven Nys raced the hole race together. Awesome racing with the two best cyclocrossers in the world. Only sad thing is Stybar’s helmet, why that ugly Specialized aerohelmet? Too long.

Skärmavbild 2014-02-02 kl. 16.05

1. Zdenek Stybar – Czech Republic

2. Sven Nys – Belgium

3. Kevin Pauwels – Belgium

4. Klaas Vantornout – Belgium

5. Tom Meeusen – Belgium

6. Lars van der Haar – The Netherlands

Fast Belgium riders. So let’s hope Stybar races some more cyclocross races last year and start planning the trip for the World Championship. Next year in Tabor so home country for Stybar and he knows how to win as he won there last time 😀

Boonen and friends Charity CX race

Was today but still I can’t find any great videos from it 😦 Anyway, as usual my favorite won it. Zdenek Stybar:

Let’s just hope it does some greater CXraces this season too. Like those between Christmas and New Year and of course the World Championships in Hoogherheide in january.

But until that we can hear some about Klaas Vantornout’s Dugast tires:

Road cyclists on CX

Two of my favorite road cyclists are racing CX now after the autumn rest. Sylvain Chavanel on Specialized Crux:

Chavanel CX

And here in Norway there was the unofficial Norwegian Championships yesterday and last race in the CX Cup. Road World Cup leader Emma Johansson was there and showed how fast she is and won 🙂 Here is a picture from fridays training on her Flanders carbon CX with Shimano Di2, Nice Dura-Ace 7800 tubulars and PRO Stealth bar:

This afternoon it’s time for CX in Zonhoven, don’t miss it here: Superprestige Zonhoven

Vos and Stybar=Winners of the day

Marianne Vos won the sprint in front of Emma Johansson in the world cup race in Vårgårda today:

Great win but would rather have seen Emma Johansson take it 🙂 And in Belgium it was the 7th and last stage of the Eneco Tour. A tour I’ve almost missed. If you also missed it you should see this highlights from the last stage. Zdenek Stybar attacking like Vos and take the win of both stage and GC. Love it!

(sorry for the dutch and flemish videos, didn’t find any better)
