Highlight and bottom bracket

On top of a hill with a very tricky descend on Tjøme. Riding mtb with an ocean view is so nice 😀 from last ride.

And today I did a bit on my bike, mounted a GXP Pressfit bottom bracket:

And shortened the Reverb hose so I save 13g there. 559g Reverb Stealth feels really nice 😀 GXP Pressfit is 10g heavier than a PF30 bottom bracket if you wanted to know.

Put the crank on too but mostly for have all spacers in place as I will dismount it to mount my chainring and I will also show some weights of it then. Sram XX1 Q168 as I have 32, 36 and 38t chainrings at home so easy for changing. But waiting for a 34t Spiderless from Absolute Black. Spiderless chainrings look to good and love it simple and clean 😀

Friends can make something boring to a happy end

Started the day to prepare for riding my bike at 10 a clock today. 9.35 it was raining a lot and came some lightnings, the electricity disappeared for a second to. Changed our plans and met John at 11 instead. 11 a clock with the blue sky coming and both me and John feeling really slow after a long week. Riding uphill with 130/150mm travel (John 150/150) with slack angles and bad legs isn’t the funniest. If I had been alone I wouldn’t enjoy it and when coming up to Fløyen and riding Sticks’n’Stones with soft ground and really slippery roots it usually feels shit and just want to change sport to Bowling instead. Fell once but John had to fight the trail more. Both survived 😉 Continued up to Rundemann in slow to moderate pace and over the top with foggy air so no great view as we usually got at 560m altitude. So down the gravel first and onto Hardbakkedalen singletrack. Wet and I failed a bit seeing John disappear. Back fighting and when you just hold on to your handlebar and letting the bike work over stones, holes, rocks, roots and soft ground you know why you’re rode all the way up. We found Enduro and love it.

Over the gravel and onto a pretty fast singletrack that first goes almost flat until it’s steep in the end. Last time it almost was dry and my bike flew like a dream. Today it was wet. But I didn’t care so passed John and pedaled as hard as I could. Didn’t always had grip in the mud but didn’t care and just rode. The smile grow on my face. So high going down some stairs in the end I almost forgot to sink my seat.

Back over the gravel and onto a steep track that was really slippery today. Was full brakes, lean as far back as possible and hoping to not slide into a tree. Thought for a second if my front wheel was locked or if it rolled, steep and muddy. Managed the steep part but passing a root I had to put a foot down. If there is anything that can scare me it’s wet roots.

Down back to Bergen city and home again after that. Great ride and first ride after my fork was on service. Awesome performance now and can really recommend a Magura TS8 😀

Going uphill it’s always talk about gearing, someone complaining, someone have to go hard and so on. John complained that he couldn’t go easier (granny ring is not for use) and I smiled with my 42t 😀 For those of you that doesn’t want a OneUp 42t ring for your 11-36 cassette there is another alternative now. Customizing is coming closer to us riders/customers. Absolute Black has come with a 40t that looks pretty good:

Magura TS8, lighter, better and back in business

Got my fork back from service today and changed to a FIX 150mm instead of adjustable between 120 and 150. Light but hardcore and seems to work great now too compared to when I sent it. My Liteville 301 is now at 10,8kg and after some headset toptuning at work tomorrow and later a bit wider handlebar it’s ready to take me over everything I dare 😀

Sometimes I’m thinking that I should have another AMbike but in the end this is really good and hard to beat in price too. Around 3000€. Try to beat that 😉

Now I just have to find some light time to ride it too, seems tight this year with darkness and many plans.

Slip and slide

Great autumn weather today and no work. Perfect some bikeriding. But was alone so no huge ride in some odd place. Just rode up Fløyen and felt strange. high heart rate but felt pretty good. Tried Sticks’n’Stones but way to wet now so just sliding all over the place. Continued up to Rundemann (550m altitude up from my home). Pressed the button and dropped the seat before going into the rocky trail there. Felt a bit strange first but when the rocks got bigger it was great and just push the bike forward 🙂 The uphill afterwards went pretty until I stopped on a rock standing in the wrong place and fell to right, high heart rate and power and then just stop wheren’t the best.

Anyway afterwards I thought of trying a singletrack going down Blåmannen to Brushytten, like 100 altitude meters from the top. But the start was really bad, or I came the wrong way. Had to walk a bit and then I met some people and asked about the way. Seemed like I was right and then it was time for riding. Or trying to as it was big slippery rocks in the beginning and had to walk a bit more. Felt that my Mavic Fury got worse grip then my Racing Ralph to so fell on a slippery rock. It got better and great riding in the end, stopped at an easy part and took some pictures:

Bergen 600m down, Snow on Ulriken (also rode/walked in some snow) and me in yellow. A bit wet too as you see 😉 Bergen style. Enjoyed the last part a lot and the bike worked great. Passing Brushytten and went down a little more before the singletrack over to Fløyen Rock Garden, really slippery and bad power in my legs. But the downhill with dropped post was great, just to push on. Rode into Fløyen Rock Garden with confidence as I knew the grip of my tires, I knew than it should be easier with lower saddle and knew where to ride. More slippery then usual and almost crashed in beginning but kept me upright and tried to get some speed to beat my record. Felt fast and the bike worked under, in front of and behind me, awesome just letting go. Down to Skomakardiket with a smile and just let the bike go. Rode Stand and Deliver and tried to cross the small flood with just getting my rear wheel stuck in it. Ok time.

Down and my fork started to sink, not so nice riding with >72° head angle going downhill so rode to Sykkelsenteret and checked it. Seems like it lost some air and that’s the reason. Will send it for service next week.

But the sad thing coming down is that I only got 3rd time on Fløyen Rock Garden, been riding those 200m 7 seconds faster with almost 2km/h more speed earlier this autumn. Have to beat that time 😉

Map and stats from today with some odd altitude as usual. Will fix my watch later today. Movescount
