Le Peloton #96

It’s been a hard but short cycling week this week. Cafériding monday like you maybe already read about. And yesterday it was time for Älgö Deluxe with a KOM to me on the complete route 😉

Sumostyle for me and Emil and it was a great group of riders 🙂

36,2km/h average for an hour in the sun 🙂

So this morning it was strange when the speed was high and the heart rate low going to Urban Deli. I was thinking my legs feel like crap and thought of group 3. But it felt too good so changed my plan to ride with group 1 for as long as possible and take a shortcut if I got dropped.

Not as many as usual today as the weather forecast showed rain. A couple of really fast guys and many who didn’t take turns made the speed go up and down. It felt ok going to Fisksätra with my bike acting like I want it 🙂

Going down back I had to chase Emil first with ”wrong” riders around me, way too strong so I didn’t have anything to do there. Kept up good with the group but without possibility to do any work up to Nacka Forum, did a short turn down to Sickla before almost getting dropped at Hästhagen. Worst place on the route for me, always suffer a lot there. But I hanged on over Hellas and sat in the rubberband tail to Älta getting a PR. Passed some before Storkällan and managed to hang on okey over the climb there. Dropped but managed to get up again in the tailwind on the flat and the road passed Flaten felt pretty good. Rode smart and thought that if I should get dropped it would be on the last straight.

Got a good wheel on the last straight and sat in 2nd position passed the place where I crashed some weeks ago. Dropped a couple of more place in the sprint but it didn’t matter so much to me. Did what I could and really happy to be able to sit with the 1st group all the way. Or Grupetto maybe as Jonas and Adam dropped us and rode the last part alone, really strong riders.

No rain on the ride but while we ate breakfast it started. Was really cold and wet going to work afterwards:

Now I won’t ride anything more this week but hopefully some nice updates here. As I’m going to Albstadt with the Swedish Women Junior Road National Team to Albstadt, Germany for a stage race. Really looking forward to it and hope it will bring good results and develop Women cycling more 😀

Cafériding to find the apples

When you are a group of cyclists that isn’t too many or too few and everyone are on the same level. Then riding in the sun can be awesome. And it was today, everyone wasn’t all at the same level but almost and same enough to have fun 😀

7 riders gathered at Cykelcafé Le Mond this morning and we left for Färingsö and the famous Äppelfabriken (applefactory) to have a nice fika. Emil had found a route and we almost followed it

Emil had written that the pace would be around 30km/h. It was much over when we came out on the nice small roads. And my Tarmac felt like flying, was really nice to push hard sometimes and see the speed over 45km/h on the flat parts. 🙂 This with Live Strava Segments on my Garmin 520 maybe had it’s role too, who wants to loose 😉

Then we had fika:

Café du Cycliste clothes and fika is a perfect combo. No matter if you eat pie or ”proper” food you still looks slim :p Or something like that.

Then we pushed on towards Stockholm. Did the classic lap around FRA and I had a plan. I maybe wouldn’t win the sprint but I would get tired so when we had rode away and turned around I went up in front and pushed all I had. Really good training for me and was really hard when I went in 48km/h with over 180 in heart rate and the road went up a bit. Had to slow down and let the others pass. But gave it all and tried to go around again and sprint. My worst spring ever! 190 in heart rate and like 49km/h when I rised and was supposed to sprint past Peter but my legs were empty and I just sat down again with a laugh about it :p

Rode past the castle which I tried to take a picture of, got a bus instead 😉

Awesome day on my awesome Tarmac. A great way to celebrate the National Day of Sweden 😀

Picture from the bridge on almost the hole group by Jimmie and Emil took the picture of me eating pie.

Drömkåken replay

Had in my mind to do the 200k Brevet from Östertälje yesterday but I got an offer I couldn’t refuse and had to work to solve it so no big ride. Rode big today instead with She Rides.

Gathered at the Swedish Museum of Natural History this morning we rode to Upplands Väsby and met up the rest including guides 😉

Rode together in the headwind towards Drömkåken:

And had a little fika 😉

And talked about Vätternrundan coming up in 2 weeks.

And then we rode home 😉 or after like 30km we got split into two groups as one where going back to Upplands Väsby and we where a group going back to Stockholm. Our group got great speed after that split and it felt good 🙂

Pushed on some extra after I left the others at the museum. It’s a nice feeling when riding for over 170km and you got power to just accelerate and ride faster 🙂 My bike was really inviting for it too 😉

Le Peloton #95

Started with a Tuesday with new wheels. Sold my CLX 40 tubulars and got a pair of Roval CXL64 disc, was like Christmas at work when they arrived 🙂 Massive with their 29,9mm width and 64mm height but seems second lightest in it’s category with only Tune Schwarzbrenner that comes in lighter. But also not so high and not as wide.

Wasn’t feeling perfect but felt fun to try my new wheels on yesterdays peloton with a lot of people:

and new Gelatosocks:

Wasn’t on top and ended pretty far bak in the group which made me suffer a lot. Came up ok up to Fisksätra but almost got dropped on the way down again. Kept up with the peloton until Sickla and got dropped up pasted Hästhagen…

Rode alone and took the shortcut in Älta. Came to Enskededalen in time to see Damian take the sprint and the fast Jacob smash the KOM. A new KOM every week, impressive.

We all got a great breakfast at Le Mond and sat there for a long time talking to Emile in the sun. So nice.

Then the sad part started. Rolled of to work like usual but at the second intersection I got rammed by a car. Braked a bit but didn’t have any space to go so stepped of my bike and saw my new front wheel being driven over by a Passat:

The cardriver did a u-turn without looking enough to the side where I was rolling. Smashed wheel and scratched fork and levers 😦

Topped it off with getting a proper cold like Emil, Ricky and Simon also seems to got from the weekend 😦 Let’s hope this turns soon.

NEWS: Specialized Venge ViAS DISC!!!

Gaviria is the first one out on the new ViAS without rimbrakes:

And another better picture of the bike:

Someone wants to buy my Tarmac disc? A Venge ViAS disc with Campagnolo Super Record EPS have to be the ultimate roadbike if you want to go fast 🙂

Aero + speed = ViAS

When a bike should be allround it’s usually not best at anything. A bike that is supposed to be best is the new Specialized Venge ViAS. As aero as a TTbike and it’s made to go fast, or faster.

Today I built this beauty. The most aero roadframe Specialized ever created with the fastest regular clincher tires. Red is the fastest colour they say and this in Rocket Red may be even faster. Wheels faster than Zipp 404. Crank stiffer than anything else on the market.

You should see and feel this bike irl, like the Trek Madone 6 I had this got many nice shapes that is hard to see on a flat picture. And every shape there for a reason, not made to brag with, made to beat Strava KOM’s with 😉
