I’m alive, still even without any blogposts. And missed Le Peloton this week both cause I have had a cold and I been doing rehab those days. Just commuting to work and it’s not so much to write about.

Except Tuesday-Wednesday when I borrowed a new Specialized Turbo Vado 6. An e-bike hybrid with 350Watt and 90Nm up to 45km/h. Going uphill in over 30 without any effort was really nice 😉 Was a bit slow getting back on my S-Works Diverge for double the price making 8km/h less in average on my commute.

No matter which bike I used I enjoyed the new cycling path from Ektorp 🙂 Nice to get some space and not have to share space with cars or pedestrians.

Now this weekday it’s time to ride my bikes for real again, more on that after the rides 🙂 Hope you all had a better ridingweek 🙂

The Dutch mountains

Cafécycling on Ekerö/Färingsö today and 21,6km headwind on the way there for me. The wind continued and it was like riding in the Netherlands. Headwind, tailwind and sidewind and cyclists all over the place.

2 pictures showing I was in the front today, maybe the only ones as it was really hard with 38mm graveltires when the others more or less had roadtires, and where i better shape. Klas attacked so much he and Peter took a detour and still got ahead of us. Petra seemed to be in top shape, Jimmie attacked me on the small climbs and Emil tried to keep it steady on the front.

Misery isn’t a word for todays ride but it was very hard. Happily I had a nice tailwind back home from Le Mond and I got to see the best of my bike, really like it when it’s purple:

Dream vs reality

Mauve Leroy shows the French beauty in this Rapha video. Like a dream with sun, good weather and a beautiful language. Composed with the French style which sometimes makes me think that Swedish design isn’t the best after all…

Not perfectly set up yet but good enough at home. Specialized Dry Tech 45mm that I hope will keep me dry all winter. Prepared for rain, dreaming of sunshine.

Fight for your right

The shape isn’t coming, the beautiful rides with great people aren’t coming to you. You have to get it yourself and get in the right groups knowing the right people and knowing the right roads.

I joined a cafécycling ride from Le Mond today with Emil and some other fast cyclists. Me and Emil have been riding lots of times together, last time he dragged me around Race Across Skåne. I’m used to be in the front of these rides and can attack Emil on uphills and downhills if I want.

Today I started with cake at Le Mond to be extra fast downhill:

And sure I was in the front a bit but mostly like this:

The feeling when you try to push on but it doesn’t work, or when you attack on a climb and the heart rate goes like a rocket and you drop again. Emil says he doesn’t got any top but sure his tempo is hard enough to just hang on to. 😉

Except I’m in bad shape and not used to being the one sitting at the back trying to hold on sometimes it was a magic ride. Mostly asphalt but some nice gravel too, and some tricky:

And I’m still taking it a bit easy and not want to crash again so soon. Takes time to be able to ride as fast as the bike can go in a group, on gravel or in the descents.

It’s all a mindgame riding a bike. To dare go fast, to be able to get a bit loose on gravel or on a singletrack. And not giving up. To think you’re good enough to ride with the fast people and to think that the suffering ends just when you get home again.

Le Peloton #171

DSC_0018Yesterday I did some Le Peloton cxloop and Instatraining in the wet with Patrik and a couple of fast guys

Today was a new wet day:

And darker as Le Peloton starts at 6 o’clock. I tried to put some color on it. It started alright and kept on going alright. I tried to ride hard but didn’t have the turbo on and got followed by a guy almost the complete short loop. At Erstaviksvägen they became 2 as another guy didn’t know the route. 2 keeping my wheel and I just dreamt of dropping them 😉 but not in my shape…

My alrightride went at a lower effort and heart rate compared to last Wednesday but also shorter time. Faster and easier 😀

Did I mention my Diverge rules? And the feeling of going over roots, fast, on a wet gravelroad with 50mm high carbon wheels feels pretty cool too. 😀

CX and Gravel

Today it was a trainingrace in Ursvik and SCS CK joined with 5 riders and me. Me, Patrik and John rode up while the others went by car. I joined the course preview but as my leg isn’t all good I didn’t want to race, stood on the side, took some pictures and cheered a bit instead. And talked to the ones who punctured (many of those).

And then we had fika 🙂 Lisa asked if anyone was up for an easy gravelspin afterwards and I joined. Wanted to go on a nice gravelride from the beginning and not so often I ride at Järvafältet and the weather was perfect for autumn 😀 love Swedish sunny autumn with all the colors and smiling people.

A picture from the end of our ride. Riding home from Ursvik I got to know how long time it was since I have ridden over 3h, even with the fika my energylevel dropped and had to eat a couple of bars at work before washing my bike. Closest I’ve been to bonk 😉

Specialized S-Works Diverge a.ka. Divergett

2 years ago when I sold my Crux and got a Diverge Comp Carbon I felt like I found right. Last year I heard rumors they would come with a new Diverge and as it felt a bit boring to get the exact same bike 2 years in a row I changed to a Sequoia. Bigger tires was a lot of fun but I was missing the roadbike feel of a Diverge.

When they released the new Diverge I knew I had to have one. When I read about it I felt even more that I had to get it. And thanks to Specialized Nordics I got the only (?) S-Works frame in size 52 that is coming to Sweden. Thanks to Specialized Concept Store Stockholm it ended in a top of a line bike that felt awesome from the first pedal stroke:

The Futureshock may look a bit odd but it feels really nice. And the bike in total feels really awesome! Will vary with wheels as I got a set of cheap tubulars too for road mostly. And will probably change for a 3T Bailout cassette when it is released. And am waiting for my Berk saddlecombo from the mtb to come back from repair to have the possibility to save even more weight.

But as it is now it feels really really good. Road it on gravel yesterday and it’s just what I wanted and dreamt about. Can really recommend it to everyone wanting a fast gravelbike suitable for every terrain (except terrain) 🙂

And as everyone asked, the totalt weight as on the picture but with the right cassette which I changed for today: 7,72kg

Le Peloton #169

Last Peloton I did was the 26th July, a long time ago so going back today felt new ;).

I was dark, I knew almost everyone and we had lights and knobby tires. Feels like really long time ago. Last time like this was in the spring on a Specialized Sequoia. Now on a new bike never been in the beautiful forest before. A dreambike worth waiting for.

Sometimes the wait is almost better then when you actually getting the bike/thing you wait for, then it feels like it’s all over and you start thinking of something new. Something ”better”. When I finished my Diverge yesterday (more about it in a blogpost soon) and rode home in regular clothes it felt like home.

I wanted a new Diverge last autumn but it never came. Now when it came I got an S-Works thanks Specialized Nordic and Specialized Concept Store Stockholm. It’s built with so much perfection I got a bit depressed not getting the best bartape in time…

To have such a masterpiece and be able to push full speed at a Le Peloton CX is a special thing. 38mm tires, bad legs and out off shape made it different compared to last time.

Started in front, let Magnus pass before the gravel started and in the first climb at Lilla Sickla a lot of people passed me, I didn’t want to blow everything in the first climb. I pushed on as hard as I could and it felt hard, with a high heart rate but working legs and body. In a climb after the 3rd bridge Johan passed me, he haven’t been passing me in over 2 years… In the longer not so steep climb I tried the speed on my Diverge and flew by Johan like a rocket :p Blew up with a peak heart rate at 191 but it was fun. Then we had to stop and step over a big tree laying over the road and while having trouble clicking in my roadpedals Johan passed me and disappeared. I was alone again but pushed on good. Decided to take the shortest loop and sat a PR on a Strava section chasing Stuart who was in front of me but never caught him.

The futureshock did an amazing job down back to Äventyrsbanan and in some way I was smiling.

Passed the finish and rolled a bit easier to Le Mond for breakfast. I wasn’t so fast, I was suffering as much as I think this was the hardest Le Peloton this year according to suffer score 😉 But I’ve been longing so much for this. Push to my limit on a bike working just as I want it to work and feeling light. Even not being able to eat breakfast properly because of lactate acid in all of my body I was happy, this was a big win for me 😀

An injury can end up with new feelings. Like this morning when I woke up by the alarm at 5.00 and was happy to go out and ride my bike in the darkness before everyone even thought of breakfast.

Got dropped pretty fast which I expected and tried to do a long lap as fast I could. Wasn’t fast but felt like I could push the small Watts all the way. Then the light came and while the others did 3 fast lap I did 2 slow:
