2 years of Le Peloton

Thanks to this guy I started with Le Peloton 2 years ago:

  • 58 rides 1st year
  • 60 rides 2nd year

Could have been more rides this last year if I didn’t slept so long and rode Le Snooze instead 😉

I’m not a guy that loves to do intervals on a trainer. I can’t push myself really hard riding alone and I found it boring to ride alone. I like to ride with good people. And I like a good breakfast. I don’t have any problems going up early. And I like routines.

So it has been awesome meeting a lot of riders in the mornings for a ride that helps me improve my bike skills in different ways:

Even when it’s cold and we aren’t so many but sometime happier riders that do the cx loop:

I like to optimize, I want to go faster and get faster gear. Like speedsuit, aero shoes, helmet and an awesome fast bike:

And the big city life with a great breakfast with great friends in the city centre at Le Mond:

I’ve done Le Peloton with 7 different bikes this year but mostly these two:

Le Peloton is like a race with redlights. Sometimes you make it but if you have a bad day you get dropped and everyone rides in the same class. Some people wants everyone to help, some people just want to make it around, I don’t want to get dropped before Hellas.

On Wednesday I start my 3rd Le Peloton year. I want to improve and I want to ride harder, better and maybe I will get dropped too early. I will never be the best and I will never be in the centre but I will be a hangaround with class.

The Weekend of mtb (Lidingöloppet and EC XCO)

The did race this weekend too. Two weekends in a row racing without a racelegal bike and licens. But thanks to Stefan I had a Specialized S-Works Stumpjumper with a Khisel fork and all parts Specialized has done to make a fast mtb 🙂

Rode Lidingöloppet MTB for the 2nd time and the prestige was bigger than ever before as I had to win over my colleague Jaime and the pressure was on. I know he’s strong and easy trained, I also know he can train which I’m not good at. But anyway. Didn’t got the best start and did a lot more work in front of the bunch than I should but I wanted to keep the pace up didn’t go too hard. Pushed hard on the climbs, softened on the downhills and tried to keep the pressure proper on the flats.

It felt hard but not to hard and when riding a 8kg 29er it feels like flying. Lost grip in many corners with my 1,95″ S-Works Renegade tires but they rolled faster than every tire I used before. It felt like I could push and keep pushing. Got dropped by a guy and the women winner Isabelle Söderberg in a climb we had to walk (the ran) and ended up being 3 people with one other from CK Valhall. And a guy who didn’t want to help. We 2 rode good with the other guy on wheel for a long time. 2 others came from behind and the group became 5. No more work for me 😉 At the most technical part at Bosön I got dropped and had to ride the last part alone. Was a little tired but pushed as hard as I could and passed one from the earlier group.

Finished at 2h24min and 45th place of Men Race, 38 spots better than last year and 13min. Beat Jaime with 10min 😉 Stats here: Strava

Ended the yesterday with taking the train to my dad. And spending the day with him at the awesome European XCO Championships in Huskvarna. With winners like Victor Koretzky, Jolanda Neff and Julien Absalon

Le Peloton #89

PR (!) on the CX loop today. Felt good after yesterday and got some great company today:

Jonas and Per in front with me on wheel on the first climb. Then they dropped me… Rode a little alone until Niklas caught me and we rode the rest together. He rode stronger on the climbs and I’m faster on the flats and downhills. Thought of dropping him some times and did a little in a couple of climbs but came back up and thought I would hold will until next climb. Then went in front and kept the pace good. Awesome ride.

In the end I went in front and just pushed all I had, love that feeling when you know how far it is left and you can just push and push even thou it hurts and you’re not that strong normally 😉

59min27sec today. 2min26sec faster than my earlier record from november 😀

Stats: Strava

The roadpeople seemed to have ridden fast too, sadly with a crash in group 3. Ended it all with 2016s first breakfast out in the sun at Le Mond. Breakfast in the sun with friends is a luxury no matter if you’re on a café or home on the balcony. Let’s enjoy the sun as long as it’s here 😀

My first Time Trial today, really didn’t know what to expect and was nervous in a odd way. My biggest weakness is that I’m thin and weak, not so good for time trial and I knew it will be hard time to sit proper on the borrowed bike. But surrounded with nice people

13087896_1714805012108648_8595438483577437025_n

and a relaxed feeling around the race, at least with the elite riders. Choosed Elite class as it was a better starttime and I knew I would lose anyway, the results wasn’t so important and I didn’t wanted to prove anything for anyone else.

Started ok, felt like a hard time to sit in right position after 2,31km and after 7min Karl who started 1min behind me passed. The mental game was full on and when the uphills was hard it was so cool to ride in 40-50km/h on the flats and going almost 60km/h downhill just holding on so tight with a little sidewind. At the turnaround it all changed.

Headwind and it felt like uphill all the way back. Held way too much in the basebar and it went just slow. But while I’m not so good on the mental game it’s interesting how it is to count down, to keep focus and even when the back, my legs and everything feels like shit just to keep pushing.

I may not be fast or train much but racing is just cool and thinking aero in a stylish way. I found the finishline after 47min22sec and ended last but satisfied for my first race when thinking about it. Not much I’ve could have done better and great to try it for real instead of just watching it from a car or on a tv.

Great atmosphere afterwards too with some chitchatting with people I know more or less, everyone are friends and kind.

Emil Rosenberg who i got lift from on the way home got 3rd:

and Susan who invited me for dinner this evening got 2nd on her first Time Trial in Women Elite:

Back in Stockholm I changed my mind to go by train home and took the mtb up Hammarby Hill towards Le Mond:

Not my best climb what I felt but got a PR 😀 S-Works doping 😉

Sometimes variation is the thing that makes motivation go up. Or a race. Usually I always have a race that motivates me but with a year without license and without raceplans (from the beginning) it’s different.

But thanks to Jessica I’m racing next weekend, Lidingöloppet MTB. They say it’s a mtb Marathon but it’s almost all gravel. Last year when I rode I thought, this will I never do again if I won’t borrow my colleague Stefan’s Stumpjumper…

This morning was the first try on the Specialized S-Works Stumpjumper I borrowed for Lidingöloppet MTB 7th May 😉 Stiff Khisel fork, superlight Roval Control SL wheels with S-Works Renegade. S-works double crankset with 42 chainring. Can only go one way 😀

Not so many yesterday morning as it was wet but me and Magnus (with his Surly commuter) did the CX loop. Felt hard in the beginning but had to slow down to wait for Magnus, before the second long climb after Magnus went straight in a corner which made me turn around and wait for him he said I should go and ride in my own tempo.

I did and it felt great in standing but sitting the bike didn’t feel superfast, maybe the wide handlebar and position made it like that, didn’t feel like I got up to speed on the soaking gravel roads either. But did my best back to Sickla. Pretty cool with a 8,1kg mtb anyway.

Sprinted over the bridge at Danvikstull to beat my boss on a Strava segment and felt dead going up Folkungagatan to Le Mond. Love it!

5th overall on Danvikstull, a PR on a segment going back from Erstavik and a really good time on the complete loop. Impressed and motivation on top to go even faster 😀

SCS Breakfast Club

The latest in Stockholm is now the Specialized Concept Store Breakfast clubride. Thuesdays/Thursday a mtbride before work. Timed for us working in stores so started at 8 today 🙂

Patrik made the ride and I joined last thursday. Today we where 4. Me and Patrik from SCS and Ragnar and Fredrich from Cykelcity. Ragnar and Fredrich is fast too so like last week I had a hard time. But a better time than last week, better flow and speed and felt just better 🙂 Still much to improve but great way of doing it. A technical but pretty flowy ride with small ups and downs all the time. And all a sunny morning, was great except our crashing. Everyone crashed except Patrik 😉

Sunny groupie before we headed in different directions:

Tabergs finest

What a day. Nice singletracks, good food, ice cream, good friends and okey weather. Eskil showed me and Hampus the best around Taberg including the Tabergs top that is 346m or around there over the sea. A mountain sticking up as you can see here with Eskil and Hampus watching the view:

A Specialized 29er, a Trek 29er and Cannondale 26 fs:

Think I have to try a good 29er too, or just train more/better as I had a hard time keeping up. Lowered my pressure a bit so 20psi today which was much better than yesterday. Great tyres those Tufo XC4.

Rode up between the cows on a very steep field, almost made it. All three almost made it, had to get of the bike one time each. Hard climb but fun when you’re up and interesting when you are on the lowest gear, high heart rate and feeling that you can’t manage to get the pedals around you still can make it 🙂 Rode down a nice singletrack with many technical mistakes from me but great training and fun trail. On the bottom looking up it’s pretty steep:
