I had a Pike

slashes

This how it looked when we came back to the cars today.

Joachim and Erik should go to Kongsberg and as I had a Trek Slash 7 standing here I joined, demo bike from Veloshop. And what a bike.

14kg bike is a bit, over 5,5kg more than my Grammo so it was hard pushing it uphill half day 😉 But the function, climbing over roots and rocks like I wake up when I hear the word: ice-cream. On ”flat” singletrack it was really fun to and you can push as hard as your body allows, the bike just like it more and more. But sometimes it’s nice with a break:

Then it went down. First part wasn’t so technical except turns and a bit of mud. Not so happy about walking so far for that. But then after walking up a bit we found THE singletrack. Best singletrack for a long time and sometimes really technical, my Pike fork saved me and made me go faster as I didn’t have to worry about what’s under me. We were all smiles and Woho-ing there. In the end Joachim took this photo of me:

kongsberg slash

A bit funny riding a 19,5″ Trek Slash 7, should be way to big but with 40mm stem it feels spot on in length. Funniest Trek mtb I’ve tried so far.

Got some more super singletracks too. Walking back up one, really steep in a part with rocks and things but no problems to ride 🙂

Super day and really want a Pike on my next trailbike 😉 But is there any more suited bike for me than a Slash?

my first 29er mtbride

Have a nice friend with a nice bike you borrowed to me. A tuned Rocky Mountain Vertex 950RSL. And after rain comes sunshine so after the rain ended and my working day ended I went out to test it. Rode up at Krohnegården for 3 laps and really felt the difference. It rolls much better, as the danish also know today, and it felt pretty fast to. Just to push and hold on to the handlebar. Thought it should feel slower and bigger but maybe Rocky Mountain fixed the geometry in a good way because the rear felt like normal. The front was maybe a bit high for me but came around corners I had problems with my 26″ Scalpel, felt strange. But the middle corners I felt the difference, it was more to move, both in weight, size and head angle.

The funniest was that it was fun to play around with in the deep tracks up Krohnegården. A lot of rain made it slippery and muddy grass. Slippery as other bikes with Schwalbe Racing Ralph but felt I still had the control with the low head tube and wide (700mm Truvativ Noir T30) handlebar. Some tracks looked like this:

And tried my new helmet today so all black and yellow with Assos and Mavic 🙂

Great training even if it was a bit to wet for my taste. Think I only ridden at Krohnegården in dry conditions one or two times.

Back home a couple of photos on the bike for you, single chainring as usual (Rotor Q-Ring 33t)

Great Tune wheels with John’s classy violett hubs, nipples and QR. A colour that is really deep and lovely in real.

Cannondale Flash 1 650b

What to do when you got a Cannondale Flash alu 1 and then it’s coming 2 pairs of 650b wheels from Tune? You order som tires and mount it together:

What do you think? Get it for around 17500NOK at Sykkelsenteret (including cassette and rotors). And if you think of getting a 29er, think again. Maybe it’s better with a tight 26″ frame and some 650b wheels. It’s more compact (fun), you don’t get such a high front but you still get a bit better rolling over roots compared to 26″.
